Brief Biography

Dr. Jiafu Wan has been a Professor in School of Mechanical & Automotive Engineering at South China University of Technology (SCUT) since Sep 2015. He joined in SCUT in May 2014. He received the Ph.D. degree in Mechatronic Engineering from SCUT in Jun 2008. From Jul 2003 to Apr 2014, he respectively served as an Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer, and Associate Professor at Guangdong Mechanical & Electrical College, Guangzhou, China. From Nov 2008 to Jun 2011, he was a Postdoctor of Computer Science and Engineering in SCUT. In 2010, he became an Associate Research Fellow and a Provincial Talent Cultivated by “Thousand-Hundred-Ten” Program of Guangdong Province, China. He was listed as a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytics (2019-2023) and included in the Stanford's List of World Top 2% Scientists (2020-2023), and he was also named as Highly Cited Chinese Researchers by Elsevier (2020-2022). His research interests include Cyber-Physical Systems, Industrial Internet of Things, Digital Twin, Big Data Analytics, Industry 4.0, Smart Factory, Fault Diagnosis and Industrial Robot.

He has directed 20 research projects, including the National Key Research and Development Program of China, the Joint Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and Guangdong Province, and Guangdong Province Key Areas R & D Program. Thus far, he has published more than 190 scientific papers, including 130+ SCI-indexed papers, 60+ IEEE Trans./Journal papers, 26 ESI Highly Cited Papers and 6 ESI Hot Papers. His research results have been published in some famous IEEE/ACM Journals & Magazines, such as Proceedings of the IEEE, ACM Computing Surveys, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials, IEEE Communications Magazine, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management, IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computing, IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation & Measurement, IEEE Industrial Electronics Magazine, IEEE Network, IEEE Wireless Communications and IEEE Internet of Things Journal. According to Google Scholar Citations, his published work has been cited more than 25,000 times (H-index = 67). His SCI other citations (sum of times cited without self-citations) reached 8,500 times (H-index = 52) according to Web of Science Core Collection.

He is an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing and Computers & Electrical Engineering, and served as Technical Editor for IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics (2019-2021). He is an Editorial Board Member for Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems. He serves as a Managing Editor for IJAACS and IJART. He is a Leading Guest Editor for several SCI-indexed journals, such as IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Systems Journal, IEEE Access, Elsevier Computer Networks, Mobile Networks & Applications, Computers and Electrical Engineering, Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing, Journal of Internet Technology, and Microprocessors and Microsystems. He is an invited reviewer for more than 60 SCI journals. He is a Senior Member of IEEE.
